I recently found a bunch of my photos from five years ago. Earlier, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! identifying a truck. CalzoneGolem named it in no time. Now I'm curious where this Seat Ibiza is from. I saw this car in B.C., Canada. It's strange enough to see a Seat in Canada, stranger yet with a mysterious foreign licence plate. I like to think I'm fairly adept at identifying plates, but this one has me stumped. The car itself is a Mk. 3 Ibiza, and I think it's a pre-facelift 2002-2005 model. Full size !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Well, it's not a EU plate. Mid or South American maybe?

If you have time you can try to find it here: http://www.worldlicenseplates.com . I already tried to look South and Central America but found nothing.

I am 90% certain it is Barbados. If not, it is another small Caribbean country.
The storefront on the left says CIBC, which is a Canadian banking company with operations in Canada (obviously not the depicted plate), the UK (same deal), the US (same deal), Asia, and the Caribbean. That narrowed it down to a handful of countries, but if you look in the far background at right, I'm positive the sign is for a Honda Powersports/Motorcycle dealer. Honda only officially imports motorcycles to Barbados, hence why I'm 90% certain it's Barbados.
The plates are close matches, too.
Other candidates were Trinidad and St. Vincent.

I should've been clearer, this photo was taken by myself in Kamloops, B.C., Canada. It's not in Barbados or whatever country it's from, which is why I'm curious.
Great detective work, though, and a great eye spotting the Honda powersports dealer !

You may be onto something there.
I originally thought it couldn't be Mexico, since they use the same 6" x 12" size that the U.S. and Canada do. But, it seems that "euro-style" plates, while technically not legal, are used somewhat commonly. the "ABC-12-34" format is what is used on passenger cars in Mexico. "U" as a first letter seems to be used in only a few states:
Querétaro
,
Quintana Roo
, and
San Luis Potosí
. Querétaro seems to be the only one starting with "UN".

...You know what, reading it again the context of even having a discussion on license plates should have tipped me off my line of thought wasn't right. I mean, if you were in Barbados, you'd know the license plates were from Barbados. Whoops.
I think the assumption I made is that you didn't take this picture, but found it somewhere and were curious about the plate.
